Event Descripton

In its own 10th anniversary year, the SPLG is marking the 20th anniversary of the enactment of the devolution statutes and the ability, for the first time in the democratic era, for courts in the UK to strike down primary legislation passed by a democratically elected legislature.

In this special address, Lady Hale – in her first speech in Scotland since being appointed as President of the UK Supreme Court – will reflect on the contribution of that court to the development of devolution jurisprudence within and across the devolution settlements.

Registration is from 1700. The event will start at 1730 and the evening will finish with a drinks reception from 1830 to 1900.

The SPLG is grateful to the WS Society for hosting this event in the Signet Library
