Special Event: Lady Hale – Early Bird Offer for Conference Attendees
The Scottish Public Law Group is thrilled to announce our latest event:
The event is being held at The Signet Library, Parliament Square, Edinburgh, EH1 1RF on Thursday 14 June 2018 at 5pm. Registration opens for the public on Wednesday 16 May 2018, but see below for our early bird offer.
Early Bird Offer
As a special offer anybody who has booked their place at the SPLG Annual Summer Conference before 9am on Monday 14 May 2018 will be able to register early for the Lady Hale event. Links to register will be emailed to such persons.
Any eligible person who wishes to take up this offer must do so by 9am on Wednesday 16 May 2018, at which point the event will be open for general registration.
In its own 10th anniversary year, the SPLG is marking the 20th anniversary of the enactment of the devolution statutes and the ability, for the first time in the democratic era, for courts in the UK to strike down primary legislation passed by a democratically elected legislature.
In this special address, Lady Hale – in her first speech in Scotland since being appointed as President of the UK Supreme Court – will reflect on the contribution of that court to the development of devolution jurisprudence within and across the devolution settlements.
Registration is from 1700. The event will start at 1730 and the evening will finish with a drinks reception from 1830 to 1900.
The SPLG is grateful to the WS Society for hosting this event in the Signet Library
